1. Members of the Greenway Trust coalition are working to connect the Coal Mines Trail to the John Wayne Pioneer Trail.

Directions: Head east on Interstate 90 and get off at the Cle Elum exit, pass a Safeway (right) and at the bottom of the hill on the main drag into Cle Elum, turn left on Stafford Street and park on the right-hand side. Kitty-corner from the parking area is a portable toilet and the beginning of the trail at the intersection of Second Street West and Stafford Street, one block from the main street.
