Clothing and equipment

Where I go for ski clothing:
  • REI or Marmot Mountain Works
  • The Outlet Mall in North Bend
  • The SODO building (south of Seahawks Statium on 1st Avenue) - where there's a fleece outlet store.

What I ski in: (It should be mentioned that I am not a racer, usually.)

  • Wool socks
  • Gaiters (if snow is deep)
  • Ski boots (duh)
  • Long underwear if it's a really cold or windy day. Usually I get too hot in this.
  • Waterproof pants that zip into shorts. Lifesavers on a warm day.
  • Waterproof shirt, or polyester shirt. Keeps moisture wicked away from your skin.
  • Fleece jacket - A good thing to have for cold or windy days.
  • Waterproof shell jacket - If it's snowing or raining you won't be too happy without one of these. Also makes a good light jacket when it's warmer.
  • Gloves with glove liners.  On warmer days I sometimes wear just the glove liners.
  • Seattle Sombrero - A waterproof hat with a brim that keeps snow out of your eyes/ glasses. Sometimes it's nice to have a stocking cap too for warmth.
